Just a thought. Maybe it`s because you are good and God is guiding and protecting you.

It seems to be one does not need to follow a 'religion' to become aware of the Spirit of God as love... and peace... and to acknowledge and draw upon that nature within ... thus becoming a blessing and one who can truthfully say, 'The Spirit of love and peace, truth and joy in me acknowledges the same Spirit in you.'
When you said: 'I am not a follower of any religion' IF you, (like some I have met) were thinking in particular of Christianity as a religion, may I offer for your consideration: Jesus was not sent/created to establish a new religion, but to manifest the loving will and nature of Father God to His creation.. and to be a living example of what is possible for/through us all, eternally. His true teachings continue to spread His message of love and peace, joy and truth ... the influence of His spiritual life still imparts an awareness of the need for such to many and the power to live such a life, as eternal spiritual beings, in our now! *smile
