Terrorism is against Islam. Those verses are NOT promoting terrorism. Try reading the Qur'an in it's entirety. ALLAH himself forbids terrorists activities. In fact Muslims are not even allowed to go to war unless the state of Islam or the people are threatened. Then they have to warn the invaders three times before they attack. Muslims can NOT harm women, children, or the elderly. Muslim children are taught to respect their parents and take care of them when they are old.

It is NOT that the Quaran literally promotes terrorism, nor the Bible. However people of all religions take them out of context. To mention just a few: David Koresh & Jim Jones did so and caused the death of a multitude of people, whom believed they were God or like God. However this cannot be applied to all who read and follow the Bible as their purpose for life. You cannot take one man who does wrong, or even several, and judge the whole upon their actions and words. NOT all Muslims are terroists, it is those who apply the Quaran OUT OF CONTEXT for their own vile goals, they are the ones you can classify as terrorists.

It is important that we study the religious texts in their proper context. When these texts are not read in their proper textual and historical contexts they are manipulated and distorted. It is true that some Muslims manipulate some verses from the Holy Quran for their own goals. But this is not only with Islamic texts, it is also true with the texts of other religions. I can quote dozens of verses from the Bible which seem very violent, if taken out from their historical context. These Biblical texts have been used by many violent Jewish and Christian groups. Crusaders used them against Muslims and Jews. Nazis used them against Jews. Recently Serbian Christians used them against Bosnian Muslims. Zionists are using them regularly against Palestinians.

So my dear, you cannot say the Quaran OR the Bible are promoting terrorism. However you CAN SAY that when taken out of context by a person or extremest groups, that the people or groups are wrong and promote terrosism.

Peace, Love & Light!

The guys that do the horrible things are the ones that say it is about Islam. I just personally have to believe them. I don't see what besides religion could make them think that they are going to the great virgin orgy in the sky.

If you have a problem with how your religion is being portrayed, perhaps you should talk to the guys that portray it that way. There are hundreds of thousands at every Hamas rally and out chanting "Death to America" after Friday prayers every week in Iran. You need to tell them to stop instead of spending your time getting mad at those of us who notice.

The Quran, the last revealed Word of God, is the prime source of every Muslim's faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern us as human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time it provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and an equitable economic system.

Islaam is a religion of peace and submission and stresses the sanctity of human life. A verse in the Quran says (Chapter 5, verse 32), that anyone who saves one life, it is as if he has saved the whole of mankind and anyone who has killed another person except (in lieu of murder or mischief on earth), it is as if he has killed the whole mankind." Islaam condemns all violence which happened in the Crusades, in Spain, in the 2nd world war, or by acts of people like the Rev. Jim Jones, David Koresh, Dr. Baruch Goldstein, or the atrocities committed in Bosnia by the Christian Serbs. Anyone who resorts to violence is not practicing his religion at that time. However, sometimes violence is a human response of oppressed people as in Palestine. There is a lot of terrorism and violence in areas where there is no Muslim presence. For example, in Ireland, South Africa, Latin America, and Sri Lanka. Sometimes violence is due to a struggle between those who have and those who do not have, or between those who are oppressed with those who are oppressors. Unfortunately, the Palestinians who are struggling against oppression are called terrorists but not the armed Israeli settlers when they do the same. As it turned out in the Oklahoma City bombing, sometime Muslims are prematurely blamed even if the terrorism is committed by non-Muslims. God does permit defensive wars against organized oppression. Sometimes some misguided Muslims turn to violence as happens with all religions and countries of the world. To call all Muslims terrorists is completely false. Islaam is a religion of peace, harmony and submission to the laws of God Almighty.

Islamophobes don't care about such verses. They are convinced that Islam = evil whether facts prove the opposite or not. It's mostly the one third of Americans belonging to the red state republicans who think Fox "News" is actually a news channel (like the idiot who first replied here). They're the ones you see with Jesus bumper stickers and ultra-xenophobic, Islamophobic, homophobic lifestyles.

There are many similarities between Islam and Christianity, because they both spring from the same roots.

Islam doesn't promote terrorism, any more than Christianity does.
