i don't know but my nan and grandad had a 10 yr age gap but it dosen't matter how old you are if your in love (i'm not indian it's just a guess)

Usually the difference can be anywhere between 2 to 5 years but relationships with no age gap or with age gap of more than 10 or 12 years are not unknown.

It depends on the person who is marrying. There is no hard and fast rule that only 1 yr or 5 yrs or 10 yrs gap should be there. Generally if the age gap is there then the females would be of lesser age. They believe that if they are less aged then then listen to what the husband says. It depends on who is marrying. Some for 1 to 10 yrs

there is no specification about the age gap. If everything else is matching even the same age can marry. See Abhishek Bachan is marrying a lady elder to him. Now we are not in nineteenth century in which age ladies got faster aging tendency than men. Present situation is changed because of the health consciousness in women and the beauty aid they are adhered to. So no necessity to see the wide age gap between the couple. one or two years in either way do.

Sita was 18 years younger then Ram but the is between God and Godess.
To-day it couldbe other way around.
But in most cases 2 1/2 years to five and not 18 years, this is base on rate of maturity and other factors but if the lady is past 36 years or so then it is a defferent matter.

There's no Fixed Criteria. Infact, there are lots of other things that matter more like families, background, work, personality, behavior, values etc, and age gap hardly figures anywhere.
