How do I change a GIF image into a JPEG and can it be done with Irfanview?

i'm not a computer genius but a friend thought me to open it in paint. save as - "nameofyourfile.jpeg". with the quote things. it worked for me.

File > Save As and select JPG from the drop down list next the file name.
