I am a home wine maker and would like to make my own Champagne and would like a proven recipe, so if you would like to share it with me I would be most thankful.

I am sorry that I do not know the answer to your question. But can I suggest that you research how to make Moscato Wine. While living in Europe the Americans love this great bubbly wine from Italy. We chose it over Champagne all the time for our celebrations.

If you have tasted Sutter Home's Moscato, this is not what I am referring too. (no bubbles) Buy one, good quality Moscato d' Asti from Italy and you will taste what I am talking about. Better then just any old champagne and no head-ache usually.

Also may I suggest that you try Pumpkin Wine. There are some recipes on the web that I used and I could never quite get it to turn out right. This is popular during Pumpkin Fest in South Western Germany. Yes, it comes out orange.

Most home wine makers I know who have tried this will ferment the base wine first, just like they're making a table white. Then they carbonate the wine afterwards with CO2, but I'm not sure of the exact technique they use.

To do it the traditional way (secondary fermentation in the bottle) would probably be impractical at home.

As a bit of a wine snob, I'd have to agree with some of the other answers. Sparkling wine is so finicky and labour intensive, why not just buy it. I guess you're in it for the challenge!

No there is no recipe for champagne... too many precise things are needed(right grapes, barrels etc...). The best thing you can do is go to Reims (France) and visit the wineries where they make champagne or buy some !
