My protein drink tells me to drink it within 20 minutes of mixing. Why? If i mix it, then take it to the gym, and drink it after a workout will it have any benefit? (as it's been longer than the 20 minute time limit)

if your protein powder contains creatine monohydrate that would be accurate. cm does not remain stable in solution, for that you need creatine ethyl-ester.

I'm not sure.

But you should drink your protein shake as soon as you set that last weight down. You should also add a little maltodextrin (30 grams), it helps restore the glycogen in your muscles which aids in rebuilding.

I usually drink a shake before heading out the door to the gym, drink water while I'm there, and have another shaker with dry whey in my bag which I drink as soon as I'm done training.

Because once the enzymes are wet they start to spoil Im sure 20 minutes is just being conservative to cover themselves from liability but I wouldnt leave it out too long
