steam supply to an alternator is increased?what happens to it's speed?

If the steam increase isn´t due to a load increase,the turbine moving the alternator would increase its spead going to overspeed.
There are safety mesures(relays ) avoiding overspeed reaching more then few %(maximum 10%) of normal speed cutting off the steam supply.

If we're talking abou commercial power production, the governor maintains the rotor at a constant RPM.

More steam more pressure, more pressure more speed for a static load.
