"infected water" ? you mean just dirty water in general? they do get sick, just like humans, but like humans sometimes lucky and dirty water not necessarily contains illness causing bacteria or organisms, humans go around drinking ground water in primitive areas, but like in city definitely will probably get sick, and even in woods can get protozoan infections like amoebas
and are you kidding cats and dogs generally can get sick by same pathogenic organisms as humans, that is why they use animals like dogs and cats and even rats testing infectious diseases on them

It depends upon how infected it is. They do get sick.
If the water just has some low levels of bacteria then they won't all vomit or show outward illness. But if the water is really degraded and loaded with toxins the animal will become ill just as we would.

They have a different kind of digestive system. Some animals can eat rotten foods and won't get sick. Just like some humans can't eat beans and some can.
