Make a couple of holes in the top of the tin and heat in a saucepan of hot water will work but why not open the tin and pour it into the saucepan

As long as you take the lid off and don't try to heat it in a microwave it is fine. Saves washing up when camping! Just sit it on the embers of the fire and leave it to cook, when it bubbles it's done. Tinned food is already cooked as part of the canning process so it is fine to eat hot or cold, just don't keep reheating and don't leave it to go mouldy before eating it!

I would say it is as long as you don't do it in a microwave (Zap), and you take off the lid so that you can obviously eat it, not forgeting to use a cloth if you are eating it straight out of the tin.

years back heating up food stuff carefully in its tin was quite common, done with due care as many answers have suggested, however now it would seem both unnecessary & risky wanting to do it this way.open the can,tip into suitable bowl & microwave, you dont even have any extra washing up.Aluminium vessels are used in may parts of the world to cook food in,haven't heard of food poisioning due to aluminium.

yes but only in boiling water and as long as you are aware of the risk of the contents squirting when the tin is punctured so when opening it must be covered with a towel to prevent you being burned

Yep, take the lip off and put at the bottom of the oven for about 20 mins. Make sure it isn't right to the top, else you could have spillage.

Yes. Sometimes, I heat up canned tea or condensed milk in pan of water. Just be sure that water covers most or all of the can most of the time.
