Actually if you watch the news they're planning on sending around 3,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. That's not near enough but its a start. There are more U.S. soldiers there now than there have EVER been. If you keep your eyes and ears open you will her news about Afghanistan. Just have to watch the news more than in passing as you're leaving for work.

"There are now 26,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan, the highest number since U.S.-led troops ousted the Taliban in 2001 for hosting Osama bin Laden. About 14,000 American forces fall under NATO command; 12,000 troops focused on training Afghan forces and special operations fall under the U.S.-led coalition."

There are US soldiers in Afghanistan for the war agaist terrorism. The Afghanistan government is pretty well stable and has taken control of their military and police. Afghanistan doesn't need us there for their stability, we are just hunting the terrorist throughout that region.
In Iraq there are still too many insurgents and terrorist. The Iraqi government is still unstable and has a lot of infighting. There are battles erupting between political and religious groups. Without the allied forces there it would be an all out civil war.

You are just hearing that the US wants to send MORE troops to Iraq to raise the troop strenght..

The military responsibility has been turned over to NATO in Afghanistan, although the US maintains an independent American force there it also has American soldiers assigned to NATO.

It is NATO country's that should be sending more troops to Afghanistan, not the US. Country's such as Italy, Spain, France, and Germany, plus smaller European country's who have an obligation to protect Afghanistan should step up and do their part to weed out and destroy the Taliban.

The only time you will here anything about Afghanistan is when something goes bad there. We have several thousand troops there. The biased news agencies does not report something that is going good for the US, only the bad. NATO is in charge in that country, so the countries that want us to fail in Iraq cannot report anything bad in Afghainstan, because they are in there with us.

NATO seems to have things under control, but more soldiers have been requested across the board, but no one is stepping up to the plate. There are currently just over 2000 Canadian Soldiers in Southern Afghanistan and they need help as most of the Taliban slip across the Pakistan boarder and regroup and return.

You are only going to focus on what the media wants you to focus on. Do you honestly think that we are not paying attention to what is going on in Afghanistan? Do you also think this president sits in his office all day thinking of how to move troops around just to irritate people? He has advisers who are real soldiers and have experience in troops maneuvers and battle. What you hear in the press is a very small part of truth if any truth at all.

There isn't anybody there worth killing or buildings worth destroying. Besides the only thing there are terrorists. remember thats where Osama Bin Ladin initially hatched the plans for 911. Thats where all the Al Queada training camps were located. Why would he want to go there?

Destroying the poppy fields in Afghanistan would only prevent a resurgence in cheap opium from hitting our streets.

You can't reason with a moron and George W. Bush is just such a creature. His own party even believes that now!

There are U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, but NATO forces have taken over much of the soldiering duties in that region. There is a multi-national force there attempting to hold things together. There are still some U.S. combat forces there, but not in the strength there was once.
