I have naturally dark brown/black hair. I am going to a convention in early June (June 1-3) and I need to dye my hair orange, after bleaching it blonde.

The problem is, my aunt's wedding is a week after that (June 10). So I NEED to change my hair back to the dark/brown color.

What do I need to do? Will it harm my hair in any way? Most importantly, can it work?

you can, but make sure you test each hair dye on some of your hair, or your treated hair, before doing all of it. You may end up with green or purple hair when you wanted orange or brown.

Also, if you dye it too often and too quickly, it may all fall out.

I've known several girls who lost all their hair and had to wear wigs until their hair grew out, for just that reason.

What you did was correct -- you do need to lighten your hair very light to get rid of the orange, and then use a toner to give you the final effect. Without knowing what you used and how you did it, I can't tell you what went wrong. Yes, if you had used a medium blonde (whatever that means), you would have had some colour on your hair. It can't not have some effect. However, if you didn't follow the directions, then it won't work for you at all. If you had used blonde tint (which contains bleach), it may have been too light for you and you saw no effect. After bleaching, you don't need to use a tint... there are non-peroxide toners, and you could also use a semi-permanent colour. Remember that dye is used on fabric and leather to make something darker... a tint is used to colour hair.

With your hair being so dark it may be hard to lighten it to blond..it may be orange anyway. You can do it but you'll have to really use good conditioner on it.Trim it regularly. When you dye it back brown do it right before the wedding because it will lighten back up alot within a couple of days.Good luck.

It may be too hard to dye your hair blonde I would suggest to get a semiperment haircolor, it washes out after a few times, but if you are really going to dye it, I would suggest a pro since I'm a brunette with the same color.

yeah, it'll work, but be sure to keep the dark dye in long enough or else it'll come out too light.
