Metabolism is the biochemical modification of chemical compounds in living organisms and cells. It is through the process of metabolism that organisms process nutrients into the biochemical tools and structures they need to maintain a living state.
Ways to Boost Your Metabolism
Eat Regularly - Eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day will give you energy throughout the day--helping you to burn calories. Whereas, calories eaten during larger meals tend to get stored as fat.
Maintain a Balanced Diet - Not only how often you eat is important, but your food choices are equally as important. Nurture you body with the appropriate balance of protein and carbs. Eating whole foods rather than processed food gives your digestive system a workout that burns calories. For example: choose an apple over apple juice.
Workout with Weights - Building muscle mass will replace stored fat. As you build muscle tissue your metabolism increases.
Don't Forget Cardio - You need to get that heart rate up and breathe a little heavier. Twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular activity 5 days a week is recommended. Brisk walking or swimming are good. Or utilize exercise equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical trainer).

Are you trying to say that you're trying to lose weight by working out but not losing it, or you simply don't have the energy?
In answer to 1: the weight will come off if you exercise. But then don't go and have a huge packet of crisps after that.
In answer to 2: eat raisins before you go out, they're really good for energy and don't contain many calories either. Bananas do actually have quite a lot of calories in them as they are carbohydrates, about 120 if I remember rightly, so don't eat too many of those.
Good luck!

Have you tried protein drinks? Don't try pills, they might cause some side effects. You could also change diet, because there's a certain amount of body fat that you body needs to attain in order to get good results from your work outs.

Always go for a balanced diet and not ads.
Natural vitamins and proteins with regular exercise will make you healthy.
Try to prefer home made foods.
Avoid overeating and eating without hunger.

you need to start counting calories so that you "know" how much you are really consuming.
the link below will help you to determine your caloric intake. once you have that increase it by 10% every other week until weight gain occurs.
