Hi there...a lower urinary tract disorder truly needs to be evaluated by a veterinarian as some can become life-threatening within 24-48 hours because partial or full urethral blockages can occur. Urinary disorders sometimes require surgery and followed up with a course of antibiotics as well as change of diet for cats with lower urinary disorders that your vet will prescribe.

How do you know that your cat has a bladder infection? If you took him to the vet, he would have prescribed medication for the cat to take.
If you are self diagnosing - DON'T. Go to the vet, get dianosed by the professional and let him dispense the medication. Bladder infections can become quite painful for your pet.

My neighbors cat had the same problem, it can be quite painful for the kitty. Crush & mix the contents of a cranberry juice capsule into his food, when the infection is gone just empty 1/4 the contents of a capsule every other day or so to maintain good health -- that is unless he is willing to drink cranberry juice. Also, go to a plant nursery like Lowes or WalMart garden center and buy a kitty pack. It has 10 or so varieties of plants/herbs that are good for cats. Plant these in your yard or a planter box. Cats really do need these extra greens because so much of store bought food is high in protien and fillers only.

Get him to the vet. This is an emergency. Male cats are prone to having kidney and bladder problems that are often fatal. Is your cat getting in the litter box, but only producing a few drops of urine, and then returning to the litter box soon? Bad sign. We have lost two cats like that in the last 30 years. Love your kitty? Go to the vet.

How do you know that your cat has a bladder infection?
If a Vet told you that was what was wrong with your cat then he/she would have given you medication to treat the cat.
Please don't guess as to what is wrong with your cat.
It needs to be taken to a Vet so that a proper diagnoses can be made and proper medication can be given.
Please don't try to treat your cat yourself, you may very well end up doing more harm than good.

Your cat needs to see a vet to diagnose the problem and treat it. Without professional intervention your cat can develop serious problems. This isn't something to mess around with at home, please take your cat to the vet as soon as possible.
I don't know if you have a male or female cat, my male cat was "blocked" and dripping urine with traces of blood in it. Fortunately I recognized the problem and took him to our vet immediately (it was a Friday night at 5:15 p.m.). If I hadn't, he would probably have suffered terribly and died.
This can be very serious, please take your cat to the vet. Good luck.

vet may have to give antibiotics, can develop FUS, feed cat foods that say good for urinary tract health (esp. if male cat), besides like premiums (like iams is good, and iams dry original good for urinary tract health), nine lives makes dry for urinary tract health, and Frisky's can with blue wording around label at top says Special Diet (like Ocean Whitefish flavor) cause sometimes can develop crystals in urine which block
