I have a 8month old doxie chon he gets an 1hour walk in the morning (before i go out). And then 30mins at night before he goes to bed. Hes full off energy and is never tired when we go for a walk. But yesterday as soon as we got outside he didnt want to walk and kept sitting down. So i went home, he was licking is back paw, and i noticed he had lost some of the pigment. And it was very smooth not like the other paws where there rough. Hes never tired when we go out so i never assumed it was a problem walking him that much i thought it was normal! Shall i just rest him and walk him on grass?
Thanks for any advice.
Regards Kim

alright it sounds like your dog scraped his pads on the sidewalk.
this has happend to my dog also when i went to the vet they told me to put neosporin ointment on his pads and it will heal up.

take it easy on the walks for a while, it's painful to walk so you could walk a bit let him rest and keep going.

but still take him to the vet!

He might have injured his paw on a piece of gravel or hard piece of dirt. Check it over and stop the walks for a day or two to let the paw heal. The dog will need his exercise as soon as he is well again. So walk him as much as possible.

Yes Kim that sounds like a good idea. Also a quick trip to the vet would be good too.

an hour isn't so long,, make sure you aren't walking him on harsh surfaces or surfaces that have been salted due to snow and ice.,,,, what exactly is a doxie chon?
