My sister has an upset stomach, but she rarely barfs, a fever, a headache, a feeling of tiredness, and no appetite. She has an inexplicable craving for ice cream, but can a person eat ice cream when they have the following symtons above? I think that she has the flu, because I saw it on my Health Book. When you answer, please list your source!

If your sister really suffer from flue( Symptoms seen are of flue) ,then it is not advisible to eat icecream.

This is from personal experience so sorry about the sources thing, but milk products are generally not good when sick... your body must use extra energy to absorb them, plus if she is having an upset stomach, things like ice cream can easily lead to vomiting. She would do better to have some Jello, or some frozen slushy Pedialyte (which can actually be pretty good!) which can be found wherever infant food is sold... it's high in proteins and helps keep you from dehydrating.

However, if she's really, really wanting some... have her try a few bites first... don't wanna overdo it!

She'd better see a doctor or a nurse soon, if she has the flu, btw.

Ice cream while having the milk products which can have a coating effect on the stomach, it can also be a hard thing to digest when ill. I would stick to the clear liquids (ginger ale, water, apple juice, and Gatorade), jello and Popsicles. You want to make she is kept hydrated and comfortable.
