I wouldn't suggest doing anything of the sort. I am sure there are surgical ways of doing this but any Doctor whith any ethics wouldn't do such a procedure. Scientest are working on a pill that will supress emotions after a traumatic event so that the event doesn't appear to be as traumatic to the person as it actualy was. This is being used mainly for people with PTSD. Hovever it won't make you actually forget the event. I am not sure why you would wan't to do something like this. It seems to me that you are troubled by somehting that has happened to you. If you erase your memory that would mean erasing ALL of it even the good memories. If you have issues that are bothering you I would suggest talking to someone or getting some proffesional help. There is no shame in asking for help. It will only make you a better and stronger person in the end. Good Luck

I have been told that "the files" are always around, even when you cant remember things. So much for framed diplomas.
If you are looking for a drug or something to cause amnesia like they cause dryness of mouth or ringing in the ears, wont really work. You just start to not CARE that something happened.
However, if you brain gets overloaded with several terrible events and their complications (even one, whatever your limit) you will start to forget things. Not just the bad thing, but recall in general will be messed up from the stress. Good things and bad will be forgotten or mistakes will happen. Your appointment is 20 minutes AFTER four o'clock not 20 minutes BEFORE 4 o'clock.
Get some help.

Well hitting yourself in the head is good for amnesia. Unfortunately it is also good for severe concussions or even a stroke. Another trigger for amnesia is a traumatic episode. Usually things such as a disaster or combat will trigger it. And no contrary to what countless cartoons and sitcoms would have you believe another bonk on the head will not cure it.

According to a lot of sitcoms of the 1970's, a knock on the head from a bowling pin will do the trick. I say give it a try.

Our memory exists so that we can compare the past to the present, learn from it, and choose our future based on that information. That's what we are and that's how we create our lives. Wanting to forget only creates want, not forgetting.

umm... you can hit yourself in the head really hard and hope you hit the right spot... or you can supress the memory enough that you forget it, or you can deal with whatever it is by seeking help and move on
