I simply can't tell you how many times I have seen opponents of the War in Iraq use statements such as the one provided in my topic sentence and I was hoping one of you Far Leftys could educate me as to how this war is such a disastrous and exacting toll on american soldiers.

To my knowledge the death toll for the entire operation is lower than a single days worth of fighting in the Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, Korean War and the Vietnam War. Yet I keep hearing about the 'harsh' death toll rising in Iraq and the extreme misfortune American troops are having over there in that dust bowl. It would seem to me, though, that not being killed is probably the the best thing any soldier at war can hope and in a war with this many men involved it seems that a large percentage of American lives are being spared compared to other wars we have been involved in.

Num Num I can tell you googled "casualties due to iraq war" and found the number 60,000 from wikipedia.. sorry to burst your bubble but you are dead wrong.

American Losses:3,080 dead. 22,834 wounded in action, of which 10,142 were unable to return to duty within 72 hours. 6,640 non-hostile injuries and 18,183 diseases (both requiring medical air transport). As of January 28, 2007.

Thank you for nothing Num Num, also I do not think the War in Iraq is "great" I think it is justifiable and I don't understand the deamonizing of every aspect of it down to the Death Toll counter on Newspapers across the nation. I only question why this death toll is SO important when other wars have killed 100 times as many american soldiers in previous wars with a smaller population base. Talk about close minded libbys, huh? Also the guy going on about my sucking up of US dollars this isn't the time nor topic for your bull.

Cherry Blossom do you know that Humans have been fighting in wars with eachother for over 2000 years? Ever since we became more than hunter gatherers and settled down to form towns and then cities there have been wars. Funny how over 2,000 years of technological advancements in weapons, medical support and logistics ended up giving us 60 Million plus casualties in World War 2 over shadowing every war previous to that despite the improvements in all those various technologies that you say are supposed to reduce casualties. Can you imagine the amount of casualties you could expect in a war with Red China? It would make the Iraq war look like a bar fight, and rest assured technology will only make the weapons that kill us that much better at it and last time I checked there surely isn't any shortage of human bodies to shoot up.
Dr. Ackmadia, we did not pursue the Iraq army into Iraq so one would expect far less casualties to merely repel an enemy.

Ah not just Pro-Isreal but a pro-fisherman as you have cast out into the yahoo seas and many shall swallow your bait, hook line and sinker.

Any death is one too many. The US and our allies have the technology, we just do not know how to think like radical muslems (do they really think at all?) Their low-tech attacks have had great impact.
But the worst impact of all the things we must endure during this war is the liberal news broadcasters and reporters.

They don't report on all the good being done in Iraq. They don't report on all the support and help the soldiers get from locals. No they just report allied body counts and mutilizations. They are the eyes, ears and worse yet mouth for the insurgents and terrorist.

The Allied forces went into Iraq telling the public lies fabricated by the secret squirrels, there is no doubt and even Saddam was at fault for not allowing people to disprove these lies. He was trying to keep Iran out of his sandbox.

The Allied forces went into Iraq legally. Yes legally as Iraq had joined the UN and agreed to follow it's laws. They were in violation for years and blatently refused to meet what the majority of the world had voted on. Saddam's regime was in violation of so many human rights I can't list them all here. Saddam was murdering more muslems every year then have been killed during the war. Not just legally but there were also moral reasons to attack him.

Peace is nice, but as long as there are maniacs and power hungry thugs who can achieve power, military might will always be needed to control things.

*gets off soap box and goes to stand with Pro-Isreal and talk about fishing*

PS Agent-86 you forgot to post pictures of the Curd civilians that Saddam dropped chemical weapons on. Of the tourture cells in almost every police station in the country. Of the Scud missile attacks against Isreal. Of the hundreds of young women raped in Saddam's palaces. Of the millions of people he had executed because someone said they spoke out against Saddam or his regime... I could go on and on.. open you eyes and see both sides. Talk to a real Iraqi about how they lived under Saddam.

Have you ever actually seen a report about Iraq? It's certainly not a walk in the park. People over there are dying, all while policing a country in the middle of the Civil War.

By my count, there have been well over a dozen retired generals and admirals (higher ranking ones) who have came out against the war, saying that it's a lost cause. Colin Powell (I guess he could fall into that above group, also) has said that Iraq is in a Civil War (you can find this video on YouTube).

While the death toll may be lower in this war than most of the others the U.S. has been in, do NOT use that to justify the war. No one should play politics with American lives.

This war is wrong, and the poll numbers support that. When less than 30% of Americans actually support the cause, maybe we need to reevaluate that cause.

In one sentence. You cannot help a country that does not want to help itself. As for the causalities, you cannot compare casualties in those times to now. Weapons are superior, intelligence is superior and medical care and treatment is 1000 times better. Far too many soldiers are dying for the technology and arms and skills these soldiers have been provided. As for opponents to the war. Do you know anyone who wishes for war? Maybe in your country war and bombing and being hated are a way of life but not where I come from. I am not American or Israeli and can offer an unbiased opinion on war, because both countries America and Israel have a history of being self serving nations and damn everyone else.

My reference about medical technology was a mere comment that you no longer have soldiers die from pneumonia, secondary infections (rare), maybe you have never been at a modern field hospital...where they do not use rum to kill the pain anymore, and yes I am well aware that wars have been happening for more than 2000 years.
What is happening in Iraq which maybe in Israel it is common place as you are suicide bombed on a regular basis is the insurgents, resistance fighters or whatever name of choice you prefer are not using conventional warfare, which hand to hand battle if it was going on the US would clean house. But these fighters are resourceful, bombs in cattle and dogs, children strapped with bombs. That may seem the norm for you and the enviroment you have grown up in but it is not something most of us are accustomed to.

This is the second War waged in Iraq.

The 1st War was prosecuted by George Bush Sr. He adhered to the advice of his Military Generals & Intelligence from the CIA.

The Stategy for War was devised by the then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Colon Powell. Which was:

GO TO WAR WITH OVERWHELMING FORCE & NUMBERS TO QUICKLY SUBDUE THE ENEMY.

The 1st War deployed over 300,000 Troops with enormous Air, Land, and Sea Support. Not to mention the support from neighboring nations.

That war lasted 44 days. The death toll was less than 200 and the toll on the US budget was minimal due to contributions from nations around the World.

This Current War:
a. Cost over 3,500 soldiers lives (10s of Thousands who have lost limbs)
b. Hundreds of Billions of US Tax payer Dollars
c. Has raged on for over 4 years
d. Has no end in sight
e. Has totally destabilized the Middle East
f. Has led to Civil War in Iraq
g. Has cost nearly 50,000 lIraqii lives (The people we are suppose to be helping)

How do you think the average Iraqi feels about the liberation we've provided thus far?

Do you believe a Shiite controlled government is in the best interest of Iraq (They will be aligned with Iran)

You do know that Iran IS developing Nukes and has them underground. These are the same guys who think your Country "Isreal" should be destroyed. You did know that Right???

Is that enough to qualify it as an unmitigated Dissaster?

2007-02-03 22:00:05 · answer #4 · answered by Dr. Ackmadia 2 · 6 0

You already fashioned your answer.

This WAR is for the interest of ISRAEL exclusively.
That's why We find it incomprehensible to have a single US causality wasted, and as it may look , by the time we pull out of IRAQ, your statement minimizing our causalities becomes absolute for the deaths and the maimed reaches catastrophic levels beyond that of any of the wars you have listed.

Now lets flip the coin and have you an Israeli general leading 120,000 IDF replacing the US presence in IRAQ, how would you feel to lose 100 Jewish soldier in Baghdad?
Will you report to Tel Aviv that everything is Ok and that the causalities didn't yet reach the death toll of the American Civil War, World War 1, World War 2, Korean War or the Vietnam War?

Come to think of it, Democrates SHOULD propose this bright idea to have Israel replace US in Iraq as an exit solution.

We inherited NAM WAR from France, why not IRAQ war to Israel from US?

No taking flight our troops from Iraq won't end the conflict with terrorists. even nevertheless staying in Iraq won't stay away from us from getting hit lower back the two. How rapidly human beings overlook that we went into Iraq simply by fact of WMD not simply by fact of 9/11. Bin Ladin hasn't been caught ineffective or alive and whether he's ineffective he did nonetheless have time to recruit extra Al Queda cells. So might desire to we wipe out all the midsection east?? Drop a nuke on them?? Then we'd wipe out many of the terrorist even nevertheless there'll nonetheless be those left in the back of who will certainly choose revenge.

Well....Tough isn't it?
I'm an indipendant...I contract for the US ARMY.

Is the war a mistake? YEP!

It's a mistake because we bomb people and then tell them were doing it because things will be be better.

I dont care who you are. Democrat or Republican.

The middle eastern people will do their best to kill all of us in the name of Alah so they can have their virgins.

I'm not too fond of the Isrelies either.

DO you have children?

ALL AMERICANS, CANADIANS, BRITIONS.

Any party, all parties. Yep, even the Nazi party.

Look at your children. Know that they want them dead.

The most libreral person who is pissed at this right now,

They want your children dead. Look at them, they think of nothing better than a knife slicing throught your childs throat.

And yet your pissed at me. I just sent you the news.

This war has had the lightest death tool of any other "large" US
war.

Why are there so many questions about the horror WE are doing to them when the only answer to fix everything is to be be
many times more horrible?

A month of absolute horror and out problems in this region will be over.

Maybe things will be better for them if we put happy faces on our bombs before we dropped them?

You hate me for my lesser evil choice.

Look at your kids tonight....what would you do if?

Most people that have not set foot in Iraq, think the death toll is high. And you are right, it is not as high as any other war we have been in. The media is the problem. They focus on all the bad things that happen in Iraq. I have been in Iraq for the last 2 years as a contractor, and 1 year as a soldier. They don't tell you how many soldiers lives have been saved by other soldiers, who are dedicated to there mission(dedicated means, staying alive, and keeping your fellow soliers alive). In the 2 years here as a contractor, I can't count how many times, I have had soldiers, even high ranking ones, would come up to me and thank me for saving there life, for the things I do here. My belief, well, I don't agree with the reason why we are here, but I am doing my part by suporting the troops in Iraq, by being in Iraq with them, and making a differance, not sitting at home in my comfy lazyboy, complaining.

"To my knowledge" being the key words here.

That statement is way off. There is about 60,000 casualties due to the war so far. If every single day of Vietnam had 60,000 casualties, about half of the United State's population would be dead from the war.

Do some more research.

You do realize that if someone disagrees with you and you immediately start insulting them, it just makes you look like you're completely unsure about your own point of view?

Also, humans have been fighting for over 10,000 years. Not 2,000. Really.. do some more research.

It's not worth attempting to debate you, from the tone of your post it's self-evident that your mind is already closed.

You'd think, though, that you Israelis would be kissing all of our American butts, not just the ones you agree with, given all the financial support we've supplied you over the years.

Yes, some of MY tax dollars went to your US welfare state country. Talk about ingratitude. Stop sucking at the US welfare teat so much first, and then you can roundly criticize me.
