For your information, "anyone" can't be Jewish. In fact, the ONLY way you can be Jewish is if your Mother is Jewish. That is why Jews have not mixed with other people. You should learn more about world religions.

Judaism is not a racist religion buddy and has never been one.
Rachel was right the only way you can be Jewish if your mother is Jewish for it is written in the Torah i.e. your Old Testament.
All religions in the world do not need to be Jewish because all religions of the world follow the Noah's 7 Commandments. Hence, they are guaranteed a place in the world to come.

Concerning 6 matters Adam the first man was commanded:

1) Concerning idolatry

2) Concerning cursing the Name of the Almighty

3) Concerning murder

4) Concerning sexual immorality

5) Concerning stealing

6) Concerning the establishment of a judicial system

Even though we have knowledge of all of these commandments by the oral teaching we received into our hands from Moses our teacher, and even though the human mind itself is inclined to establish these, nonetheless, it is seen in the general words of the written Torah (Law of Moses - the first 5 books of the Bible) that he (Adam) was commanded concerning these.

7) The prohibition against eating meat taken from an animal while it was still moving/active/alive, was additionally commanded to Noah, as it says:

"Nonetheless, meat with it's life-movement in it's blood do not eat." - Genesis 9:4

Therefore we now have seven commandments.

However, if someone does want to be Jewish no rabbi will deny him/her that chance. The rabbi will refuse him/her several times just to make sure that the person is interested. One of my friends is African American and he converted last year after one year and a half of study. He was denied three times before he was allowed to proceed. He was asked the first time why does he want to be Jewish if he already is guaranteed a place in Heaven? This question shocked him.
Conservative and reform branches have different criteria then those for Orthodox branch. They are more open to converts and will accept him/her almost right away.
Since everyone is guaranteed a place in a world to come why do we need to go out and recruit people into joining our faith? We love our faith, we take pride in our faith, we show loyalty to our faith by studying the Tonach and the Talmud, and most importantly we enjoy being Jews regardless of the conditions the world throws us into. So, why should we sell our faith to everyone else? If we started selling our faith to the nations of the world it would cheapen Judaism as a whole. It would show that we only care about the numbers and not for the torah; it would show that we only care about ruining other faiths by stealing away their members; it would show that we love tarnishing families by taking away their heritage, their children, their culture, and rob them from their understanding of the universe. That would make us hypocrites in the eyes of God whom Himself said that the other nations would have a place in the world to come. Who are we to replace God?
I hope that this answers your question.

what you, as a non-jew who probably knows next to nothing about judaism, consider the term "chosen people" to mean is far different from what jewish theology actually says it means. no, it is not racist.

"For your information, "anyone" can't be Jewish. In fact, the ONLY way you can be Jewish is if your Mother is Jewish. That is why Jews have not mixed with other people. You should learn more about world religions."

you're the one who needs to learn about world religions. people convert to judaism all the time. there is an entire book of the bible about a woman who converted to judaism.

EDIT

simply put, the "chosen people" concept means that G-d chose a group of people for a purpose - to receive the torah and follow the 613 biblical laws, and in doing so spread the knowledge of G-d to the rest of the world. we don't get any special rewards for being jewish and non-jews don't get any punishments for not being jewish. if we thought that G-d had a problem with non-jews, then obviously judaism would be a missionary religion like christianity or islam, out in the world trying to "save" everybody.

No more racist than any other and Back at you --learn about a religion before claiming to know all. Your analogy of only being Jewish if your mother is is completely false. There are many people who have turned to the Jewish faith because of their practises and also so they could marry a Jew and have children and raise them in Judaism.Do you forget that Jesus was a Jew? If Jews believe they are the chosen than so be it.Catholics,Baptists and all other religions believe they are the chosen. So are all religions racist or do you just have an issue with Judaism?

Considering what has happened to Jews over their history, I think the world probably has a lot more racist and xenophobic cultures to worry about then Jews. I wonder what your actual agenda is for asking this question?

P.S. I'm better then you because I'm better then you. Being Jewish has nothing to do with it.

P.P.S If we judge a culture by its relative achievements when compared to its population, Jews would certainly have reasons to be prideful. In relation to their numbers, Jews have had more success in every field of endeavor then any other culture I can think of. I am sure this has something to do with the values the culture has.

Read the "Book of Ruth". It specifically talks about the benefits of conversion and the non-racial aspect of the religion.

Plus "the Chosen" refers to a covennant-- a responsibility. It's much easier to not be chosen.

Well the truth is that there is no judaism any more.
Sorry!
To follow the torah (the law) -old testament for the christians,
you must make sacrifice for everything. Without a sacrifice there is no forgiveness. So what do you think. Is there judaism??? The only thing i see is men with bears and hats crying at a wall. Very pathetic . What religion command that?
