Yes, my cuzzin's friend, was this outgoing, exciting, amazing, funny person, then he got into a terrible traumatic, disasterous accident, and is like brain dead, and its like he was born without a personality. He isn't fun to be around, and just knowing that he came back a different person and he was the life of the party, but its like every party dies now...
and then the big thing was the only name he could remember was her name, so it was to heartbreaking to see him in that condition.

You never lose your personality, that is always part of you. What happened to me is I just "shut down" - its a way of switching off ones self without even really trying, it just happens after you cant take any more and that has to be really serious and a lot of stuff. I even lost my sense of humoour which is part of ones personality - I stopped feeling just about and became like a robot, just doing what I had to in order to survive. You really need to talk to a counsellor/s to get to the bottom of the traumatic event - you may get bits of information from different counsellors which help you put it together but try to stick with one you really feel comfortable with and who relates to you and vice versa. Good luck, I am coming through, its been hard work but my old self is coming back.

Yes, does anyone notice that even a flu that takes several weeks to go away causes us to be so lethargic and down, as if we don't care what is going to happen next? I am a man, but I think that is why men who are convicted for rape should be dealt with as harshly as can be. Though I cannot empathize, I think this is something that causes a woman to lose her entire personality and might even send her around the bend. Somebody broke into my house once while I was away and I felt so abused; as if they had gone into my soul and taken it over. Hope it is something tht you can get over. In the meantime try to look at tomorrow.

It happened to me 25 years ago. But over time and medical intervention I have made a full recovery, or made a new identity.

I was unconsious for 9 days and still have brain damage.

I know early trauma from ages 0-5 can cause personality disorders.

These disorders stem from loss of a solid sense of self (personality).

Any time you have been emotionally or physically violated, it is going to change you and possibly scar you for life...where you once trusted, you lose trust...where once feeling like somebody, you feel like you must have deserved it, and it ruins your self esteem...you start doubting yourself, and you could become bitter...you could become paranoid,..you will become all things emotional...and it could cripple you..or you could do What our Father in Heaven has asked, and no matter how bad the abuse, forgive them, and through Jesus, He will take the pain away, and deal with the perpertrators in His fashion...ask me, I know
