I would say breakfast! You are litterally breaking the fast between your last meal and your first of the day! You are most active after breakfast so you need calories and carbs to keep you going! If you think about it, we should eat a lot in the morning, a smaller meal at lunch and and even smaller at dinner. Because we do so much less after dinner.

breakfast is the most important meal of the day. it jump starts the metabolism and ends the nightly fast that occurs during sleep.
Simple Version:
the body enters early starvation mode when the gastrointestinal tract is empty, this is roughly 3-4 hours after the last meal. serum cortisol, glucagon and GH increase in response to this. blood sugar is low in the morning so the body is in a hypoglycemic state. serum cortisol and glucagon remain elevated until they are suppressed by the effects of insulin when food is metabolized.
the body is either in a anabolic or catabolic state or transitioning between the two. the key to losing body fat and the key to increasing fat free mass is to control insulin. this is accomplished through a balanced diet with a sufficient caloric intake and regular exercise.

Breakfast. It gives you energy for the whole day. Plus when you sleep for a long time then wake up, by that time, all the food that you ate yesterday would be digested so your stomach needs food to digest on in the morning.

breakfast, for sure. all the "experts" say this isn't the meal to miss.
it's also best to eat 6 times a day (3 meals plus 3 snacks). Your metabolism burns faster.
