There are many situations when people ask questions that one feels uncomfortable with. Example: You have been invited to a few parties and you need to turn down all except one. It is likely that those you turned down might be disappointed or maybe pissed. When they ask why you are not able to come, should you tell them the honest truth? The honest truth might hurt their feelings! This case would come up if the party you selected was the best because it had the most cool people there and other perks. Yet if you said that, those you turned down might likely be unhappy and label you snobbish etc. when you have done nothing except made the best option.
This sort of scenario also comes up when friends invite you out and you can only go out with one.
Sometimes disturbing questions come when you do not know a person well and they are ask for personal information like where you live, your family background. It can get quite irritating. And it is different when it is a colleague that ask.
