I'm so bored- I have hurt my back and have been reading for days and days as I cannot really move at all!! What else could I do?

Well, ok, I can move a bit, I can just about walk, but I cannot bend at all, or lean over, and just about every position is painful. I get up and walk around the room every 1/2 hour or so, so I'm not totally totally inactive, but any strain put on my back is impossible so I can only do stuff that involves sitting very upright, or lying on my tummy with my face in the mattress as I cannot use a pillow cos my back is too stiff!

Have some friends over, watch some movies, write letters to friends, journal about your deepest thoughts now that you have the time to do it , listen to music that you said you would listen to when you had the time......
Take care of yourself and don't be tempted to do stuff that you shouldn't do now........

1. Watch movies
2. Rack up an enormous phone bill talking to and texting everyone you know
3. Plan your dream home for when you win the lottery
4. Borrow a laptop and surf the Internet. You can find lots of free games at www.pogo.com.
5. Consult a doctor, if you haven't already. Oftentimes doctors do not recommend that people with back pain just lie there for days on end. The current wisdom is that most people should be at least attempting to move around a bit, in order to prevent stiffening up and making things worse. Even when I could only crawl on all fours because of lower back pain, my doctor still said that was better than nothing. Hurt like heck, tho.

Hire some good movies, invite friends round for a party! They won't mind looking after you, anything for a party! Also, get yourself some meditation tapes, that'll help you put up with being inactive while you're incapacitated, as well as teaching you to relax so may find your back benefits from this. Get well soon!

Crossword puzzles and Logic Problems are good fun. If you can sit at a computer CivCity Rome is a good game to pass the time away, without expending too much energy. Good luck, I hope you get better soon.

I wont ask how you hurt your back, could be embarrassing he he he

I do hope you've seen a doctor, gentle movement helps being stationary DOES NOT your back will seize completely.

Try hot a bath, massage, heat pads e.t.c. the stuff others have suggested may cover the boredom but wont see you recover quickly.

Maybe watch TV, sing a song, have a conversation with the folks around you, spend time thinking about the good things in your life, or you could continue surfing the web!

Well i would say that you really need to go and see a doctor for that condition. If your back is that bad then you should be seen for it, and get some help, even though they don't always find out why it is that way, and may not really help, it is still worth going and trying to find out why, and what you can do to make it better. PT can help alot. So please if it is that bad go and see a doctor.
