Unlike Vietnam, I don't forsee the people our troops protect falling into the hands of a oppressive dictatorship form of social government. Iraq parallels to Vietnam in that both are "dirty wars"--something the USA has had little success winning against.

Historically, ALL wars fought carried highly kept secret reasons--Iraq is none different. For us to "lose" the war would uncover such coveted secrets that some say is Bush's top concern.

Personally, I support any US war effort that positively strikes back at terrorist networks like al-Quaeda. The only good terrorist is a dead one. However, I think the terrorist networks have diverted their Iraq efforts into a whole different direction, and US presence in Iraq should begin a slow but steady troop withdrawal.

If this is the case, then we need to stay on top of which direction terror cell networks operate in and focus on their elimination.

Of course they will, they think the problem has always been with the reasonable people who pointed out the foolishness of invading Iraq from the get-go.

They talk about America's failure as if it's simply a matter of "will to win". No American, not even those of us who opposed the invasion, wants America to lose.

But there comes a time when you have to let go of fantasy and take a hard look at reality.

And the funny thing about all those people saying "protesters are sapping America's will to win, they must hate America!"? Most of them would crap their pants if THEY had to put themselves in harm's way or actually devote any kind of REAL sacrifice other than just jingoistic flagwaving.

True patriotism consists of realizing that life isn't a John Wayne movie, and that the world isn't all black and white.

When will the anti-war movement realize they cause more death than they prevent?

Vietnam? what like 3 million Vietnamese killed after the US withdrawal... All slaughtered by the People Jane Fonda and John Kerry held up as prime examples of a great regime being kicked around by the big mean USA.

But we cant mention that without getting shouted down huh? because it was none of our business... The war was over as far as the Anti-war people were concerned.

We did not lose in Iraq, the war was won. But the Aftermath, that's a different story, and the only ones who are going to lose it are the far left Banshees who think they are smarter and morally superior to the rest of us.

By the way your not, and I hope you realize the blood that will be spilled after we withdraw is on your hands, not mine and certainly not on the Military's.

But you go on feeling so superior, I really don't think you care who dies as long as you can smile at the fact that you and your ilk hurt the US.

We won't lose the War.
Haven't you heard of political spin.

Just remember how the American people were con'd into going to War in the first place. They beleived a blatant lie so they will also beleive another.

If you check the statistics......America has the worst education system in the industrialized World. Thats why we're so gulable.

We follow a man who cheated through college and only mustered a C average in doing so. You'd think with his family fortune he could have bought higher grades than that. Well its just because the man is a moron and he is our leader so what does that make the rest of us.

nicely, imagine of this. when you're (because it type of feels you're) hostile to the war what's going to ensue? were we a weaker or more suitable defense force contained in the mid-70s after dropping Vietnam? ought to the pride of being "maximum acceptable" locally and the ego-filling smile be nicely truthfully worth the finished diminishment contained in the status of the united states' defense force to our enemies...of which I imagine you ought to agree there are countless. Will the means to defeat the united states of a in Iraq embolden Al Qaeda in the course of the international...giving them a roadmap on the thanks to continuously defeat the U. S. defense force? So, if we favor to really enter a conflict with Syria or Iran or North Korea (or as some say, China or Russia) it truly is justifiable for the sake of our personal existence imagine the cost in American lives because a shown plan to triumph over us has been already performed out. for the reason that the united states of a is the major benefactor of defense force help to the United countries this diminishment of international appreciate for the means of the U. S. defense force to win also destroys the UN's means to finish "peace conserving" missions effectively. Is that each and every one nicely truthfully worth the "relaxing to work out the look on the faces of the war supporters...and bypass down in shame"?

When will the Americans learn? As a military force they are totally useless. The French couldn't win in Vietnam with brute force AND brains. How on earth could the Americans hope to win with just brute force?

I'm glad you speak your opinion, but you need to give our soldiers that are fighting this war some credit. Being in such a hostile location, away from home, away from loved ones, fighting a war that is so controversial....no wonder they feel so hated....stick up for them, no matter how you feel about the war...they are still protecting your @$$, and will always whenever this country hits conflict. Be true to your country, otherwise what are you doing here??

We won't lose Iraq...just checked Yahoo Maps, and it's still there.

Seriously, do you have a real question that requires an answer or are you just going to post repeated juvenile comments and play pseudo-intellectual political commentator?

Vietnam is an open wound for many Americans, and tossing it around for your own personal entertainment is dis-respectful of the legions of young Americans who fell doing an unpleasant job that their leaders asked them to perform in order to preserve your right to mock their memory.

This isn't about Iraq...it's about our children, our sons, our daughters, and the bloodlines that will end in the name of Democracy...regardless of where they are sent.

Yes. America has not gotten into a fight it couldn't win. The war was won years ago. However, the Iraqis may lose power under their own will after the US leaves Iraq. You call yourself an Erudite, that is laughable.
