Alcholic anonymous, narcotics anonymous all of the programs are only ineffective if the person who should be getting sober or clean does not want to. I have found people i know and loved not ready to attend these types of programs so it never helped. Yet, people I know that wanted to get sober and cleaned openly welcomed these programs and they worked. Good luck on you speech.

Google Alcoholics Anonymous testimonials. I can say it has been a saviour for my brother. Five and a half years sober.
