OK; my hair has a straight perm in it, but I have been taking biotin to help to grow my hair faster... I now have about 1" of hair growth after a month. Anyway, I want to try to identify my hair type to decide whether or not I should leave my hair natural.

P.S. When I was young, I had wavy hair. I am Black BTW.

The roots are really moist and kind of hard/stiff? My hair looks like it CAN be straight, but as it grows out of my scalp it sort of curves to the side (this entire distance is the size of your pinky nail). But then when I checked the middle of my head, it does two small little waves and the rest looks straight. What type of hair is this? And should I leave it alone? It is really hard to brush/comb, but I never let it grow out that long to see what it would look like.

I should also mention that the new growth is making my hair stand up. The roots are pointing outward, if that makes sense.

My hair also tends to curl in the back in medium size spiral curls.

Love your hair. Maybe you can find out what texture you have, but that has nothing to do with whether you should be natural or not. Your hair and scalp is much better off without the chemicals.

I've been natural for 5 years, and I take no pills or supplements. In 5 years, my hair has grown from my scalp to the middle of my back. Give your hair a chance! :-)

It seems that you have good Kinky wavy hair. By that i mean your hair is good in a sense that it grows fast and you didn't mention if there was damage, however it is kinky because in various areas of your hair you have different curl. Your scalp is moist because it is greasy, your scalp produces oil, I'd say you should try this product (Fredrick Fakkai Overnight Hair Repair), it's expensive, no doubt, but I use it and it's turned my super-over-processed hair into Angel soft hair. Also my friend who is Black and Trinidadian used this same product and that girl's hair was soo manageable! We both were surprised! Hope this helped!

Hey Sugar,

2. It's curving b/c it doesn't have the chemical from the relaxer on it, so it is surely but slowly taking it's wave or S shape back...
3. It sounds like your hair doesn't NEED a relaxer in it, sweetie if you don't have to put those chemicals on your hair then don't! Just take the extra time to care for it.
