I am in the UK and I can assure you that what you have received is most definitely a scam....do not contact the people who sent this email in anyway whatsoever.
To receive ANY email from the UK lottery, you have to be registered with them...which you have done yourself... and to have bought a ticket for the relevant lottery. If you then win anything because you picked the same numbers that were drawn, they would send you an email saying they had news about your ticket but you would then have to sign in to your account to know what they were saying.
This is the only genuine site for the UK lottery...

I have gotten this email as well. It is a scam. If you read the full email, they will ask you for a bank account for which to wire the money into or they will ask you for money to secure the transfer. Then they will disappear and leave you screwed.
Delete the email right away. You were correct to be suspicious.

Its a scam. I keep getting emails to the effect that I have won $12 US and then asking for my credit card details. As others have said - delete it.

Did you enter a UK lottery? I, along with the rest of the world, have also gotten this message. There's also a Ethiopian prince who needs your help; you can send all donations to me.

If this came in an email, from some organisation that you have not been in touch with before AND you haven't bought a ticket...then its probably 100% scam.
