I think if you avoid the 12 long-stemmed-roses and go for a mixed bunch of nice-smelling flowers it'll be fine. In fact, I think it's a wonderful gesture. Just explain it in a light-hearted way, like "I wanted toget you potpurri, but they were out." This way she'll know it's just a friendly gesture. I would welcome such from a guy friend, and wouldn't automatically think it's a date.

If you think that she doesn't think of this dinner as a date, then maybe the flowers are not a good idea. It would make the situation very awkward. Maybe just see what happens at the first date and bring the flowers at the next date when you are a bit more sure of what she thinks.

You are so sweet. Humans, such as we are though, it might be best to take it a little easy at first. Just have a nice dinner, then give her flowers on the second date. Bless you and have a great time!
I've got to say, I do really like Geraldo's answer too. If you give her flowers, how about a small, subtle bouquet?

Be a gentleman and bring her some flowers anyway. Tell her you've just brought them as a friendly gesture to brighten her day. It's always nice to receive flowers or a little gift.

Well, for this occasion...don't get her flowers...but, after you've had dinner....ask her to go out with you again, then you can bring her flowers that time!

Oh Joe, how sweet. Yes, give her flowers. How romantic. If she does not want them, send them to me.

I wouldn't get flowers if I were you... Take her out, and see how it goes.
