do a scan disk on your c drive.

open "my computer" right click on c drive, left click on properties, left click on the tools tab at the top, click on error checking. It's worth a shot.

That was very rare that someone use l3cod. I try search google, only found 12 entries of L3COD.
I don't know exactly what happen when windows fail to find the file. Are the starting sound began disappear? or maybe your Outlook themes disappear too? Or it just annoying you and windows still have it functionality?
If you just annoyed with the dialog box, just download and install the program "Tweaknow RegCleaner" ( http://tweaknow.com ). THis is free handy program will search the bad registry entry on your computer.
I hope this helps you.

If running WindowsXP, try going to START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/SYSTEM RESTORE.

System Restore wizard should have, a day or so BEFORE this problem popped up, a "restore point" auto saved that you can click on and--in effect--have the hard drive go back to, which should restore the missing "system32/13cod" file on your C:\Windows directory (of system32).

This is a safe thing to try. If it doesn't work, I'd check in with the members of www.suggestafix.com and ask them for help. Membership into this forum is FREE....and their help is valuable!

I'm not sure where to find it, but I have some files with names that start like that, and they seem to be audio codecs. If it's possible that there are a few more letters in the file name, you might not get sound from some music or movies on your computer, but it shouldn't interfere with anything else. Otherwise, I don't know.

Run a thorough virus check, and use some anti spyware software, such as Ad-Aware. Here: http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
