I need to lose about 70-75lbs. Also, just had a baby about 6months ago. I haven't been really active since I had my baby. And I am starting my exercise regimen by walking. To lose weight faster, is it better to walk uphill or straight on level ground?

I walk 2.5 miles a day and the path is both uphill and level. I have found that by doing the uphill first the rest of the walk is easier and more enjoyable, making the walk more pleasant. Walking is the main thing, doesnt matter if its uphil or level. I lost 50 pounds in my first 3 months of walking. Low fat diet and lots of water are very important along with the walking.

Good luck

power walking uphill helps to lose more weight but on level grounds, power walking helps build muscle. since you want to lose 70-75 pounds you are also going to need other help. try these tips i used everyday. i lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks doing this:
drink one glass of water before every meal
drink at least 8 cups of water everyday
eat more meals with less food. for example eat 5 meals a day wwith less food then normal
snack alot of healthy snacks.
at least ten minutes of running or exercise and thats all it took me.

Incline burns more calories. I've been working out for four weeks now and I started on level ground at 2.5 mph on the treadmill at my gym. Now, I do a random incline increase for 25 minutes at 2.7 mph. It starts at zero, goes to four, then to six, then to nine then back down. It does this three times, the final time adding incline two on the downside of the hill. I burn 245 calories in 25 minutes, including cooldown. But, first, make sure you work up to it. It is not something you can just jump into. Take it slow and make sure you are able to keep your heart rate down on the incline. I recommend treadmills since they monitor calories, mph, heart rate and incline for you, making it easier to stay on track. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout since you will sweat it out and staying hydrated helps with weight loss.

I learned in PE that it doesnt matter how much you move, if its the same distance you lose about the same. so if you walk a mile, you burn the same calories as you run it.. or at least my PE teacher says...

sluggish strolling for lengthy classes of time grant you with the finest consequences. save a sluggish, user-friendly p.c.. and over the years artwork your way as a lot as 0.5-hour, because 0.5-hour of strolling or better is optimal for fat burning. quickly for short classes is better effective proper for muscle benefit than weight-loss.
