Well, fundamentalist beliefs are so rigid that they don't leave a lot of room for new ideas and discoveries. Most atheists are too open minded to be labeled as a fundie. However, I think most atheists won't waver on their lack of belief in God(s). That is until someone presents evidence to the contrary.

Maybe atheists who force their beliefs as 100% true could be called fundamentalists. After all it is still a belief otherwise they wouldn't be in the religion & spirituality section, they would be in the science section.

Well we have to consider the other side from time to time. This way we are not close minded. However Militant Atheism is also around. I am glad there are people who stand up for what they believe in.

Atheism is simply a lack of theism. "a"theism = no theism. Why are you trying to make more of the concept than there is? Show me testable evidence that proves there is a god, which is agreed upon by experts all around the world, and atheists will become theists.
It's that simple.
