Well, fundamentalist beliefs are so rigid that they don't leave a lot of room for new ideas and discoveries. Most atheists are too open minded to be labeled as a fundie. However, I think most atheists won't waver on their lack of belief in God(s). That is until someone presents evidence to the contrary.

Maybe atheists who force their beliefs as 100% true could be called fundamentalists. After all it is still a belief otherwise they wouldn't be in the religion & spirituality section, they would be in the science section.

Atheism is simply a lack of theism. "a"theism = no theism. Why are you trying to make more of the concept than there is? Show me testable evidence that proves there is a god, which is agreed upon by experts all around the world, and atheists will become theists.

It's that simple.
