An offer is a reward with obligations and/or requirements. Examples:
1) Buy one, get one free
2) Free CD if you get 5 validations from our 5 stores in your county
3) Free vacation, when you agree to attend the 3 hour seminar on time-share condos
4) Eternal life after death (christian salvation) when you believe that jesus is god, accept jesus as your saviour, and ask forgiveness for your sins.
Examples of free gifts are:
5) Here's $50, I'm putting it on the table for you
6) Here's a bottle of wine for you
7) Here's some lemons from my lemon tree for you
Irrespective if an offer is earned or not earned, it is still an offer, contingent with requirements and/or obligations. Whereas a gift has no obligations or requirements. Claiming an offer as a gift is false advertising.
Notice the examples of offers #2,3,4 do not involve purchasing anything. Notice that you do not have to accept the gifts or offers. It does not change what they are. Gifts have no requirements.
