Cook some rice in the regular fashion and let it cool in the fridge. Once it is chilled heat some oil in a frying pan or a wok, if you have one, and then put the rice in the pan. Stir it quickly until it is warmed and you have the basis of fried rice. You can add in whatever you like as you cook. I normally sautee an onion separately and then add it in. I also scramble an egg and add that. As far as spices, use some soy sauce and some ginger. In addition some garlic and some pepper can be nice. If you like it spicy add some hot sauce. You can add any other vegetables or meats that you like, just make sure if you add meat that you cook it BEFORE you put it in the rice. If you want the vegetables to be soft, you need to cook those before you put them in the rice as well (so you might want to cook all vegetables and meats first and then add the rice.) After you have it all together let it cook for a few more minutes, keep stirring it, to get all of the flavors to combine.

In a large fry pan or wok ad some olive oil (or peanut oil) and saute onions and/or scallions, garlic, and ginger. Add any vegetables that you want and stir fry for a couple of minutes. If you wish to add meat then, do so at this point and stir fry until meat is cooked through. Add cooked rice and soy sauce (as much or as little as you prefer) and continue to stir fry until all is coated with the soy sauce. NOTE: You can fry your rice separately and then combine it with your mixture if you prefer. If you wish to add egg to your fried rice then scramble your eggs separately and add to your rice mixture last and mix well. NOTE: If you just want plain fried rice then after you saute the onions, garlic, and ginger add your rice and soy sauce and stir fry until all is coated. This is the recipe that I have developed after trying many other recipes. Have fun experimenting and making your own recipe!

I first cook plain rice. Minute rice will work. Cook it according to directions on box. I cook it in either beef or chicken broth instead of water.I then melt butter in a frying pan and add the well drained rice. Then add a little soy sauce, cooked beef, chicken or pork if you choose. Add finely grated carrots, peas or any other veg you want. I like the rice with chicken, soy sauce, carrots and onions.

Mix equal amounts of rice and water and a lot of butter. When the water starts to boil, turn down the heat so it's only bubbling slightly. Cover, but lift the cover and stir now and then.
