For starters, I am an athesit. But I don't think the conclusion that "athesits think all scientists and doctors are atheists as well," it's people in general. It's natural to "forget" that people have different beliefs. I can say that sometimes I forget that people have hard-core beliefs in God, I just tend to assume everyone is like me. So it is with most people. You assume people are like you, until you hear otherwise.
That general belief comes from the fact that science is often used to contradict religion or the bible. Scientists are believed to be out there "looking for answers", and religious people are percieved as "close minded" because they already have their answers. I mean, for example: Scientists say "big bang", bible-beaters say "God sneezed and snapped his fingers".
In sumation, it's not just atheists who think that scientists and doctors are infidels, it's a general belief.

[I apologize for my spelling and gramar, and maybe my sarcasm about religion. Console yourself in the fact that I will burn in hell].

I worked for a while in an R&D area with lots of very brilliant engineers, research scientists, etc. We actually got into discussions about religion. I have heard that most technical people are atheists, but I wouldn't say that was true. I'd say about half of them were regular church-going believers. Mostly Christian, some Jews, a few Muslims and Hindus. But technical people are able to keep religious thought and scientific thought separate in their minds. Science is theory, and theory is not judged by truth but by usefulness. Religion is 'absolute truth' but based on faith and belief, not on hard facts or physical evidence. I never met a scientist who was a Young Earth Creationist. But that doesn't make them all atheists, just not that kind of believers.

Wheather you believe in a higher power or not Is not determined by your education, more by your up-bringing Say you were brought up by parents that went to church every Sunday and took you to Sunday school, Of course you begin your life by seeing this as a normal and belivable thing. Even if you were brought up in a ghetto with all the hoplessness, hunger, drugs and death there. If you are taught to believe in a higher being you will keep doing so,even if your life is not lived in the profesed christian manor. Social Scientists profess belief in a higher power because that is a way not to offend those who do believe, Just ask George Bush. What is the truth? I do not have the power to understand God, His word, or even if there is a God at all, Fortunatly we have a place like Heaven to go to, or that is what the ones still living say to ease the loss of those people we love. I truely believe that no one ,no one living, knows the answer to the questions posed here I do understand that those that choose to do so because of some internal need to believe in somthing greater than them selves. I also believe that all religions of the Earth preach "Do these things and you will go to Heaven!" "do those things and you will go to hell" When you challenge someones faith it is impossible to change their minds to see any way except what they are taught . If your God is Alah then nothing can make you believe you should believe in Buda, or become a Christian! So why then should any God be the only one? In Africa there was a small tribe of natives that believed their God lived in a very large tree near there village. The Christians decided to build a dam that would flood the area of that village and the God tree. Why? Would this not be the same as drowning a church or a mosque? Best wishes

Why are you making generalizations about atheists? Nothing in that article mentions atheists. Sure, maybe some atheists make over generalizations, but a lot of them would not presume to know that all doctors/scientists are atheists, especially when there is plenty of evidence, like the survey you link to, that many in those disciplines are religious. There are people of all groups that make over generalizations or mischaracterizations.

I have not seen any statement by an atheist, that all scientists are atheists. This study is similar to most other studies cited here except that it also includes disciplines such as political science. You have made up a quote, and presented uninteresting data to refute it. That's in very poor taste.

not sure what your question and the article have to do with each other. personally, i don't think atheists believe "all" scientists/doctors are atheist too. i think some ultra-religious folks think that though. perhaps that's the better question. theists are satisfied with simply having "faith" and not questioning anything. scientists make a living on questioning everything. entire lives are spent testing theories over and over again until they can be called fact, as opposed to just accepting what they think they know.

Where on that site does it say that all atheists claim that? Do you have any evidence for your statement?

Your statement is inaccurate and untruthful, which means that you are either misinformed or are being disingenuous. Which is it?
