Frankly...NO! But the only way to acquire some sort of technique or individual style is by learning notes, chords and the various ways of making 88 keys work for you.
I admit that practicing scales can be very boring, but if your desire is to become a concert pianist...or even a darn good music teacher...you need to have them.
Use 'em as the "springboard" when you're composing your own music. After that...you can go as crazy (with your musical thoughts) as you'd like.

Scales and Arpeggios are the only technical exercises many virtuosos in the past have agreed on. There will always be people talking about Czerny studies on Hanon, but even the best still warm up with Scales
Having said that, no I hate practicing scales, so I try to keep the playing of them down to 15 mins a day for warm up

No. But after a while, they become second nature, and you just do them for the heck of it. And knowing your scales helps immensely when you're trying to figure out harmonies in any sort of music.

Well, if you are in the right state of mind, then yes. If you really want to get better, then you should enjoy them. If you really dont want to get better and are doing them for someone elses pleasure, then no, there is no need to enjoy them. I have been plying for 8 years, and really enjoy it, because I want to improve.

Yes. F# major sounds different if all your other work is in c minor. This gives your ear a rounded experience. (I have perfect pitch.)
And yes, it does mean practicing runs is various keys and shifting from white to black and black to white.
What would you rather do for warm up and focusing?
