In a couple of days my boyfriend's parents are going to be flying in from southeast asia, and I will be meeting them for the first time. My boyfriend has been away at work, and we are in the middle of getting phone service back in our house so I have no way of contacting him untill he arrives back at home. As he is heading back home he will be picking his parents up at the airport. He told me that when he arrived he wants food ready as they walk in the door, because they all are going to be starving. I went to google and typed in southeast asia and food, and the main thing that came up was cooked dog. I know that in our society it is completly wrong and revolting, but I really need to make the best impression that I possibly can. I went to the local SPCA and picked out the ugliest dog so i wouldn't feel bad about killing it, so that isn't an issue. I am wondering how you would cook a dog. What would be the best way to kill it, and tempurature for the oven? Also, what spices work best?

lol. this is a joke. right? lmao
but if u are serious......lol.......dont kill the dog. Im sure those guys dont eat dogs everyday and have some other form of food. make that. tell your bf that you planned to cook dog but u didnt know how to do it so thot it was best for you to wait for him and do it later instead of you trying something you HAVE NO IDEA of and ruining the party. i mean just imagine what if its some form a tradition there that if you serve a dog kidney or something, it is offensive. There could be soo many things. so just cook some other south asian food. or better still order.
u can impress his parents with other things...being nice and polite and watever.
lol....all the best gal

I also have an Asian boyfriend and dogs are not a common meat used in meals. I think they will be just as impressed with seafood. It would also be helpful to know what specific area in Asia they are from because Asian cultures and foods vary quite a bit.

You have got to be kidding me you sicko.

What makes you think you'd even need to make something from Southeast Asia anyway? Why not let them try out some food from where you live?

Stereotyping is so stupid.

You had me there, your question started serious enough & you only started with the b-ll halfway down, I actually read the entire thing. Usually I can see which ones are the hoaxes/jokes on the bold/link line alone!

Oh, why not simply serve them a Hot Dog?

holy crap, you can't be serious!!! first of all, not all asian people eat dogs. and then, just because the dog's ugly, doesn't give you a right to eat it. this is a joke right? that's like against the law. some noodles and rice would have been fine. and you are some kind of gay freak. you're freaking freaked up and stupid. go get a life you manwoman!!

I think you are showing that you are immature and prejudiced against Asians ... There are Asians who eat dog meat but its only a small percentage. Besides, those dogs are reared and not from the streets or SPCA or anywhere ... please grow up and I don't think we accept such prejudice in here...

Or just cook some good food...does it really matter if it's Asian food? Just make something yummy and his parents will like it.
