You have more to be concerned with from the gum than the artificial sugar. if your dog ate your gum; i suggest that you offer the dog enough food to surround the gum and help it pass through the intestine and out. Gum is very hard to digest, but if its "pushed" through the bowel with food it passes instead of impacting the gut.
Please try to be more careful, and check that the dog has bowel movements, if it appears to be bloating, (swelling), or in discomfort, vomiting.. it must be taken to a vet for serious examination, if the gum clogs the dog up, and you don't take it to the vet, the dog will die a terrible death as a clogged intestine becomes terribly painful - swells up- and finally bursts, then death comes slowly or surgery becomes VERY expensive.
Odds are that if you provide a tasty snack with enough bulk, the gum will pass harmlessly.... but watch to see that it still poops and that there's no blood in it.

i think ur dog should be fine. dont worry too much, just monitor him/her for any changes in behaviour, vomiting etc. also keep its fluids up and feed it something to ease the chewing gum through its system. roughage is good for digestion, so in a dogs case, feed it some plain dry food. also maybe a couple of blended raw veggies to aid with any sickness and promote vitamins. if u see any noticable changes in ur pooch that r worrying u, take it to the vet. it cant hurt to be sure. hope i was able to help! =)
ps- in "real" answer to ur question, from what i believe, chewing a piece of gum partially takes away from the xyitol, but not fully removes it.
ps- also watch ur dogs stool. make sure it is actually going to the toilet, as if it isnt, the gum may be stuck in the intestine which is terribly painful. i m sure u know how many time ur dog poo's each day, so just check that nothing has changed in that department. also, make sure to check for blood. good luck!

I doubt it. Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs, it makes their blood sugar plummet and they go into shock.
By now, your dog is probably either dead or going to be ok. Keep it away from your dogs, it really is very toxic!

He'll be fine but you shouldn't let it happen again (of coarse).
