Here's a golden rule for pit bull ownership: never trust your dog not to fight. That doesnt mean that they cant get along with other dogs, it means never (ever ever ever ever) leave them unattended either together or with another dog. If something happens and a fight is started, be sure that the pit bull WILL finish it. The breed is not one for quitting. Sad fact, but true.
Pit bulls normally start to reach maturity after a year old, most commonly between 18 months and 2 years old. you are starting off right by socializing them with other dogs, and neutering them. neutering them decreases the chances for aggression arising, but dog aggression should be expected after 18 months. When that happens, if they get along, great, just watch them like hawks. If not, you are looking at a life of crating and rotating. Crate train them all now so they are used to it, since they cannot be left alone unsupervised.
Training is sooo super important. It gives socialization and helps you prepare for what they are when they get older. Contact a bully breed-savvy trainer in your area for additional help, if you need it.

5 weeks is too early for a puppy to leave it's mother and littermates. They should leave at 8 weeks. Puppies are rather fragile at this age and in their development so therefore you have to be very careful that stronger dogs/animals will not injure it through play or otherwise.
First of all you must decide if your 5 mo old pit bulls are good with him and it seems like they are from your description.
I would only let the too young 5 wk old be together with the 5 mo olds when supervised so that the 5 week old does get injured. When there is no one around to watch them or when the bigger pups are being too rough, you should separate the 5 wk old puppy in an ex pen or other area. Do this until the 5 wk old is larger and old enough to defend itself or get away if needed. Hopefully he will be able to do that and that the two older pups do not ever pick on him. I would approximate when the 5 wk old is around 6 mo is when you may let all of them be together, but only if you've already established that your pit bulls are ok with this younger pup. Neutering all the males may help with any aggression but is also a beneficial thing for their health as well.
Another important thing you need to do is to socialize your pit bulls with other dogs and people so that they learn to be friendly and acceptable dogs in society. This means you should take your pit bulls out to meet and play with other dogs and other people often. All dogs should be socialized properly, especially the breeds that are prone to be more aggressive. This means that the 5 wk old should be as well but not until it has enough vaccinations to build a stronger immune system to be safe from any diseases it may get from being outside and exposed to other dogs.
Lastly, if all three dogs can not live together in harmony, I would suggest you find a different home for the 5 wk old or one or both of the other ones.
Good Luck!

A 5 week old pup isn't even young enuff to be away from it's Mom. So no. Not because the others are pits, or because of their age. Just that this is a newborn, really.
All I'm saying....is you need to supervise all interaction right now. Your 5 month old is going to be a little confused at the loss of his mom.
However, the new pups/ family will help him/her adjust. Just supervise it closely. If you can't.....cage time is in order. Pups need alot of rest anyway.
Good luck, and God Bless You for rescuing a dog in need.

That pup will Love you more than normal for your rescue efforts. It's great to hear about good for k-9s. The mixing of the three boys I speak from keeping multiple breeds on a few occasions. As the young pup gets bigger and older the situation can begin to escalate into a fight for dominance and possibly your affection.Almost always the playing will become more aggressive. If you find your self in this situation , you can let them have a few well supervised battles. I assume you know how to safely break up fights owning pit bulls.Study the pack behavior and above all else, always be alpha female!

firstly, i would just like to say congratulations on being such a wonderful, responsible person for saving ur dog! i work in rescue and people who help animals r a blessing.
i would be careful leaving the three dogs together no matter what. not because ur dogs r vicious, but because sometimes when pups play it gets out of control. if ur pitties r 5 months old then im guessing that they r still VERY playful! at 5 wks, a pup is learning more and more about play and is really active.
if ur pitts start playing with the little one, they mat accidentally hurt him (if they r supervised then its no problem)
i have a one yr old maltese x poodle and an 8 week old maltese x chi and even tho they r TEENY compared 2 ur 3, they still play pretty rough. the girl (older one) sometimes hurts the young one by accidentally playing too rough. even today they were playing and she bit him in the eye by mistake. when they resumed playing, she bit him on the leg and made him cry. she didnt mean it, its just about learning their limits.
u should b able to trust ur dogs together, just make sure u supervise them for a little bit first to make sure the play doesnt turn too rough.
good luck with all of them! i'd love to see pics of them! email me some if u have any! =)

No, she's only 10 months old and still a "puppy." Keep training and working with her and give it some time. It already looks like you are making progress in the jumping area, so good job! With the biting, I would suggest making sure that she has chew toys that she will chew on. It will help her not to chew on other things, such as your shoes and hand. She sounds like she's wanting to play and just needs you to tell her the appropriate way to play. I have a 3 1/2 year old pit (girl) and it took her about a year to settle in. I would suggest having her spayed if she is not, though. Good luck!

It doesn't matter that your other 2 older pups are pit bulls. So, ignore all the biased, anti-pit-bull hysteria on here. Some people are so illiterate on pit bulls, they try their best to "school" others on the "nature" of pit bulls, when in reality all they know are backyard-myths and media hype. I should know, because I have four America pit bull terriers myself. In my experience, my dogs are quite social. So, the key here is socialization at a very early age. Obviously you don't want to keep the german shepherd puppy away from the other two pups as they all mature. They're a pack, so the more socialization, the better. And yes, neutering will definitely help, too.

The best indicator is how well do you know your own dog? Is the older dog friendly? Aggressive ever? Does it seem to ignore or like the younger ones? At five weeks old though they are very small and shouldn't be away from their mom. I wouldn't leave them alone since the five month old is bigger and more rambunxious. But I would think they're ok to play together supervised. Gender usually only comes in to play in older animals.

That is a really young puppy! I know that dogs are pack animals and if they have accepted the pup and haven't tried to hurt it, it should be ok. I would still keep a close eye one the other dogs because they are still puppies and may play too rough.
