how do i convert a movie file that i download into a format so i can burn it to a disk. what software can i download that is free to do this thanks

Yes you can convert and burn to any format for free.
You need try software. from www.cnet.com or www.zdnet Formats coneverters and any for any complatible play formats. (dvd,avi,mpeg.and more.)

You need to download an Encoder/Decoder software. Look for it at http://www.downloads.com
