God destroyed the world because of the people's sin.

God warned them via Noah that if they didn't want to die in the flood they could repent and get on the boat. Noah was around for 120 years preaching this message and people didn't believe him.

When the flood came only Noah's family were saved, because they were the only ones that believed God.

God gave everyone the option to be saved, but the people weren't interested.

There was a flood? Oh you mean the flooding from the hurricanes last year in the southern US, or the tsunami flooding.
What god are you talking about anyway there are so many thousands.
I'll bet your talking about the one with Noah and the ark thingy.
Did you know that that story came from a Sumerian story, this would be hundreds of years before the Jews came, to incorporate part of it into their history (isn't selective editing fun).
1)There has never been verifiable proof of any of the thousands of gods that have been claimed to exist.
2)If there was a flood, it was a local event.
3)Story telling is a wonderful thing for children but adults should seek the truth.

That didn't work our too well for god's credibility, now did it? I think that this deity is a failure. Everything it has created is always disappointing it.

Why leave only a few that believe in him? Jealousy. Extreme, paranoid jealousy. Psychotic, violent jealousy. I suggest you research domestic violence, paying careful attention to the "lethality scale". Apply the lethality scale to the trinity in question or any other deity for that matter. Discover the lethality of the one true mighty and decide if you want to continue your relationship with it.

God wanted to keep mankind on the earth, and he saw Noah as a very righteous man. A man who could instill into his family all of what God expected from man in the first place.
Do you think God would trust a murdreer or a liar to do this for him? God trusted Noah.

Let's look at the situation in those days. Genesis 6:1-7 reads: "Now it came about that when men started to grow in numbers on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them,  then the sons of the [true] God began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking; and they went taking wives for themselves, namely, all whom they chose.  After that Jehovah said: “My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.” The Neph´i·lim proved to be in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of the [true] God continued to have relations with the daughters of men and they bore sons to them, they were the mighty ones who were of old, the men of fame. Consequently Jehovah saw that the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time.  And Jehovah felt regrets that he had made men in the earth, and he felt hurt at his heart.  So Jehovah said: “I am going to wipe men whom I have created off the surface of the ground, from man to domestic animal, to moving animal and to flying creature of the heavens, because I do regret that I have made them.” "

When you look at the verses above, please notice that it speaks about the extreme badness in the heart of people. And the actions of people made God feel hurt in His heart. So He god really fed up and wanted to wipe every living creature off the earth. But then, God saw that Noah was a good person, he and his family. So God commissioned Noah to build an ark. He ALSO gave Noah the commission to preach to the people and to warn them of the coming destruction. The people had ample time to get into the ark, but they preferred to jeer at Noah. Noah didnt just warn them for a few days - but warned them for 40 or 50 years. But they still didnt listen. Then God told Noah that in 7 days more it was going to rain upon the earth. So the people knew even when the floods would happen. It would not have cost them much to just step in to the ark - the doors were open till the seventh day. But no, they didnt. They preferred to live their bad lives, made fun of Noah and his family, and just didnt care. So the survival of Noah and his family is not just about a choice few - it is about the few who obeyed God.

Remember that God is not rigid. During the time of Lot, when God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham pleaded with God not to destroy the cities even if there were 10 people who were not doing bad and God was willing. But the badness was so great that even 10 good people were not found.

With respect to God's forbearance and His love for people and His provision for deliverance, note what the Bible book of 2 Petere 3:9 says: "Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance." So God's protection is not selective. He leaves the doors open, as it were, warns people, but if they still dont repent, they will be destroyed.

The justice of Almighty God will allow only so much corruption and then he will bring judgment. Judgment brings destruction on the unjust and only the just remain.

It was merciful of Him to stop the sinners from continuing to sin and further condemning themselves.
