I knew of a case where a man who had pending citizenship enlisted into the U.S. Army. I recall him getting his citizenship approved and they actually had a ceremony for him. So I believe it is possible.

And I commend you for wanting to become a US soldier, and doing the right thing! You're a brave man, and you have my respect, and the respect of all patriotic American citizens. May the Lord watch over you and protect you, and may He grant your wish for citizenship, and the honor of wearing the uniform of an American soldier.

God bless you!

I was not a U.S. citizen when I joined the Air Force. I got my citizenship during my first term of enlistment, which allowed me to stay in the service. And no, the military did not help me with it, I had to do it on my own. I have just retired from 20 years in the USAF. Just talk to a recruiter, he'll tell you the same thing. Don't listen to people here, especially the one that thinks you have to be a U.S. citizen to be in politics in this country. Arnold Schwarzenegger is governor of California and is not a U.S. citizen. Man, I'm not even from this country and I know this....

Yes. You have to be a citizen to lead this country in politics, but you don't have to be a citizen to die for it.
