Some paw licking is normal, but if its constant or seems obsessive check out the dogs paws. Do they look red, cut or bleeding in between the toes. This could be caused by something stuck in the paw, skin conditions or food allergies or an allergic reaction to something the paw came in contact with. If the obsessive licking continues you should take the dog to a vet or else the dog will lick the paws until they become raw in between the toes and this could lead to further problems.

Has your dog just begun licking it's paws? Or has this always been a habit? I am asking because if it has just recently started, your dog may have something that is causing discomfort in between his/her pads. Sometimes, if a dog's claws grow too long it can cause problems. I would try and watch to see if it's always the same paw and perhaps look and see if there is something that could be causing pain. If all seems well and the habit has been ongoing, then I would worry too bad-maybe mention it to your vet on the next visit.

I wouldn't say it's normal.
Any time your dog is doing this, you should carefully inspect the pads and the spaces between them for any foreign objects. It could be something obvious like a thorn or rock or something, but it could also be something tiny like a small thorn from a nettle or some such.
It could also be that they have cut their pad(s) on something, ie: glass, wood, or even a bone.
Lastly it could be that maybe they've just stepped in something that they like the taste of and they're trying to get more of it.
Basically, if your dog is doing this, don't take it lightly. You should inspect their feet and make sure that there is nothing there. If it persists, take the dog to a vet. You don't want a foreign object causing an infection and becoming much much worse.

Not really No. Depends when & why the dog is doing this I'm no expert but I have worked in animal hospitals & the vets there say it's usually a alllergy in the animal or it could be nervous or habit. The paws will also turn pink from the saliva.Best best is to take your dog in to a vet & have him diagnosed properly.Or go to a health food store & get him something natural for it there.
Hope this helps you.

Yes it's normal for them to lick their paws it is part of their grooming routine besides since they don't have thumbs it's a little difficult for them to master the sink, taps, and a bar of soap.
