Someone who would carry a knights armor for them, they also had shield bearer and a sword bearer, sometimes all were the same person.

In this section, I would think that it refers to the bearer of the helmet of salvation, the breatplate and other pieces as refered to by Paul and the gospels (Mat?)

I find it interesting that the armor bearer is defensive in nature until he/she picks up the sword...then it's a whole new story.
