I'm not sure how much weight you can lose if you follow through with that diet, but I'm pretty sure you can die from it.

Are you serious? Okay listen. You need approximately 2000 calories a day. Cutting your intake down to 500 is ridiculous and might be dangerous. Not to mention that right away your body will know it's starving; so in an effort to hang on to every calorie, it will shut down your metabolism to a snail's pace. Most of the weight you lose will be muscle. In a very short time you will feel weak, tired, and cold all the time. You will be pale with dark circles around your eyes, you'll have sores in your mouth, and hair loss. You will be confused and unable to concentrate. When you start eating normally again, your slow metabolism will make you gain weight very quickly. But though you lost muscle you will gain fat. So you might be back at your starting weight but you'll be *fatter* than before.

Concentrate on eating healthy. Aim for about 1500 calories a day, and do an hour or so of cardio (walking, biking, swimming, etc.) a day. Also, get 2 to 3 sessions of strength training and stretching per week. You should lose about 2 pounds a week; more than that at first. I lost about 75 pounds doing this.

I know that seeing quick results is important, and you will. But try to stay away from extreme dieting and exercise. It's a bad idea. Good luck!

If you don't eat more than 1500 calories a day your body will shift into survival mode. If you continue to exercise your body will literally break down its own muscle tissue before it burns its fat to allow you to survive as long as possible. Muscle tissue is your biggest burner of calories. If you reduce your muscle tissue, you will burn less calories and ultimately end up weaker and sabotage your progress.

Instead - I suggest a diet focused on giving your body the appropriate amount of fuel it needs. Your calorie burn is based on how much exercise you do, if you have sufficient water, how much fat your body has to maintain (which is about 8 calories a pound). Spread your food intake into six smaller meals per day, and focus on lean meats, dense carbohydrates and lots of veggies.

Consider partnering with a gym instructor, your doctor and get a health checkup before going on any fitness plan.

Before you even go to your doctor, start writing down your water intake and everything that enters your mouth on a dialy basis. It will give you an idea of what your intake is.

Lastly, I used weight watchers to help me loose my first 70 pounds. The next 70 pounds was burned with a personal trainer who believed in me enough to work out with me three days a week for two years.

You can do this!

Not a lot beyond water weight because your body will go into starvation mode and slow down your metabolism to compensate. It actually works better to stick to a 1500 calorie diet and add an hour of exercise every day. That way you can speed up your metabolism and gain energy as you lose weight.

You will lose water and maybe a bit fat for a few days, however after that your starvation hormone sets in and you might not lose anything. You need to eat 1200 calories a day and if you're exercising you will lose weight. 500 calories are nothing, you would have to live on celery and cucumbers.

You'd probably die. Don't starve yourself. You should lose about 1 - 2 lbs of body fat weight a week. That's about 8 lbs a month. You can't rush weight loss, or the yo-yo effect will happen (where you gain weight again).

I could go into big detail about how your body works, with calorie consumption and what not, but you probably wouldn't read it. All I can say is: you'd be starving yourself. Don't do it.

500 calories is not enough for an adult to live on. You would be essentially starving yourself/your body and working out like a maniac. Do you have an eating disorder? If you haven't been diagnosed, it seems to me like you just might be a closet anorexic.

PS: there is nothing like a healthy 500 calories. 500 calories per day is not enough to sustain adult, human life for long periods

Well you need to loose 3500 cals before you can loose 1 lb and normally if you loose 1-2lbs per week it's usually just water. It gets gained back unless you continue to loose weight and work out and eat properly. If you are over 160lbs usually you can loose over 2 lbs a week. The bigger you are the more calories are burned. Strange but fact!

your assuming that you'll burn 1500 calories
the problem is when you body sees the change in calorie intake it slows it metabolism rate so that weight drop is much slower
you also loose more muscle tissue than you do fat

Your body will actually shut down and start to cling to any body fat available to keep your organs functioning. If you do not consume a reasonable amount of calories, and your organs fail, you will die. This is a bad idea.
