Do yourself a favor and download
AVS DVD Player from
http://AVSmedia.com
it also is free and plays music and video files
During install I set it up to be the default for just media files
I've Cough downloaded Cough about 15 movies since then and they all played no problem

Gom player. It plays everything I ever tried to play!! Never, never had ANY problems with it. You can download for free at gomplayer.com. It has codecs for anything I've ever wanted to play, and it's free!!
