I love to exercise, but it's been hard for me. For whatever reason, there isn't a sport for girls in the spring, only for boys (volleyball). I was on the volleyball team in school this year. I've been trying to exercise as much as I can. Basically I get up and walk to school (it's only two blocks or 8 minutes). I've been doing this even in below 0 weather! However, I get bussed to the high school for French at the end of the day, and it's like a 30 second walk from the high school to my house (aka not a lot of exercise). I usually don't get back until 3, and with dinner, piano, and violin, and homework I have like an hour of freetime. Since it's so cold, how can I get exercise? I might sign up for a sport - which sport would be good?

Luckily my parents are purchasing a yearly membership to the "Rec CenteR" which has a lot of exercise equipment, a track, AND a swimming pool! What should I do there?

I'm able to swim a mile which is a big feat for me.

1 hour is plenty of time for exercise. You can sign up at a local gym and work out there which would be the best option since you will get more motivation that way, otherwise, there are so many routines that you can perform at home with not equipments or few.

If you want to be OUT exercising with others , try looking up some Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, hockey, aerobics clubs.

Go after an sport you really ENJOY doing not just because someone suggested it..

I love volleyball 2 kiddo. Back in college it was the 6 man indoor that rocked. What I think would definitely help a fellow volleyball player is if you used a treadmill. You could walk at a fast pace or jog/run. But the key would be to incline the treadmill during this. For as we both know you will always have to jump kiddo. Whether you are strong on the left or right you always have to jump if even to block...Tear it up kiddo...:)>

There are lots of sports for girls..

Why not:

- Tae Kwon Do?
- Biking (Once the snow melts)
- Running
- Soccer
- Base-ball
- Dance classes
- Women's erobics classes at a gym. (You don't need a membership, you can pay each time you go)
- Skating.
- Tobogganing (never too old he he)
- Feed the ducks and let them chase you. Ha ha.. it's pretty freaky!
- Do some acting classes or art... Move around, mold a sculpture.
- Clean the house ( Great work out ) I betcha scrubbing the tub would burn 100 cals LOL.!!!

Aw muffin, you've got it so hard. Seriously if you live in the city, there's gotta be a ton of sports available ie. basketball, lacrose, ringette, ballet, gymnastics, martial arts just to name a few. O and volleyball is a mostly a girls sport fyi (or for girly guys i guess). If I were you I'd drop the other things and get some free 'me' time.
