Definetly, and most of the research proves it. One typically feels better not only physically, but emotionally as well. Some research indicates that exercise is more effective in alleviating negative mood than medication or counseling alone. When I work-out consistently, I feel better in the sense that I have more energy; I sleep better; I crave healthier foods; and I feel good about myself knowing that I had enough discipline to keep with it. It also makes you stronger and can help prevent certain diseases, such as heart disease, Type II diabetes that is often associated with obesity (as affects insulin regulation). One doesn't have to work-out every day for hours at a time, unless they want to compete in a fitness contest. Sometimes those who over-exercise end up hurting themselves - they over-work their joints, which can lead to muscular strain, tendonitis, muscle cramps, and dehydration. The key - work out hard enough that you sweat and you feel some exertion, but not to the extent that you feel like you straining to catch your breath or you feel as though you will collapse. Some people are not very wise about the manner in which they work-out. Start slow, build up gradually, and be consistent. If you're not finding some enjoyment with it then you are probably trying to do too much too fast. I have tried just about everything - I used to run 5-8 miles a day and hated it. I gave up after a few years and became a couch potato. Same with exercise videos and classes. Now, I walk several days a week for 30-50 minutes and its something I know I can do every day without feeling overburdened.

Yes, your brain has these feel good hormones-called endorphins, that get released into your brain when you exercise, etc. They also get released a little at a time when you do this--have a to do list, as you mark off each task you have completed, a little bit of endorphins get released. But also to mentally feel good, when in good physical shape, it helps to not allow yourself to get too stressed out about something. That is why exercse is such a good thing. Take care.

Simple answer would be yes.

Say you exercise in order to maintain a certain shape, studies have shown that exercise can have the same result on depressed people as antidepressants. Exercise regulates good and increases endorphin levels. Exercise increases circulation and when one is in shape, one probably has a higher self esteem.

Of course. The human body is a perfect machine, physically and metaphysically. The better the body works, processed nutrition, absorbs/distributes oxygen, red blood cells, the better all organs work, including brain.
