You can use what's called a 'condom catheter.' It looks like it sounds and is easy to put on externally and take off. It hooks up to tubing, and then to a bag hanging next to the bed. Have you tried just keeping a urinal next to his bed so he doesn't have to get up? Good luck Oh, and you couldn't put in a regular catheter, it 'd have to be done by a nurse or MD.

A catheter is not the answer because of the risk of infection. I work in a long term care facility and the residents that are incontinent at night wear pull-ups at bedtime.

Do you have a urinal bottle? If not, they carry them at large pharmacies. Call around and ask. Only a nurse or doctor can place a catheter. If he sees the doctor, they may prescribe one.
Good luck!!!

There is a device called an external urinary device...or condom catheter that is noninvasive, and usually very effective. They do not stay on well for very long but should definitely last throughout the night

The best advice I can think of,is have a catheter inserted.A permanent type is best;it is put in surgically, under anesteshia. See a urologist in the hospital. Is he diabetic? Does he have prostate problems? These are issues that will be asked to evaluate the possibility of doing this procedure.

A urinal at the bedside usually works well. Urinals can be purchased at your pharmacy or DME company, and are inexpensive. Alternately, a plastic pitcher will work.
