xp can only be validated on one pc at a time. However you can transfer your license if you have the Full Retail version from one computer to another. But to anwer your queston No you cannot validate the same copy of xp on more than one machine at the same time. It may initially validate but as soon as MS catches it it will become invalid. They make this very clear in the EULA that comes with windows Here is a link to xp pro eula. You will need acrbat to read it.http://download.microsoft.com/documents/useterms/Windows%20XP_Professional_English_9e8a2f82-c320-4301-869f-839a853868a1.pdf

Guess you won't know until you try it, but it is my understanding that when you first install Windows, the product key and information about your PC are mixed together to form a new identification key. That is why someone would run into trouble when trying to install it on a second PC. Additionally, I don't think you could get updates and fixes. Can't you and Dell come up with another solution?

No. You will not be able to validate it on the second computer.

If you want a reliable, up to date operating system install UBUNTU. It's free plus you get all the programs FREE!!! You can order a CD or download it at http://www.ubuntu.com
