Unless she is absolutely cnsidered obese or it is recomended by her Doctor, a child should never go on a diet. She is still growing!

I KNOW WHAT SHE FEELS LIKE. I AM 11 AND AM AROUND THAT AREA. FIRST SHE SHOULD SET HER GOAL TO ABOUT 70. SECOND YOU SHOULD MAKE A CHART AND WEIGH HER PUT DOWN HER WEIGHT AND HELP HER EXERCISE AND CUT OFF ALL SWEETS AND JUNK FOOD. THEN EVERY MONTH WEIGH HER AND IF SHE LOST SOME WEIGHT GIVE HER A REWARD LIKE A SMALL TREAT. AND REMEMBER, SHE CAN STILL HAVE A SODA OR TREAT EVERY ONCE- AND- AWHILE.

This is a very delicate age and she can defnitely develop an eating disorder if the situation is not handled well. The best thing you can probanly do is give her reassurance that she is beutiful, and show her some facts about how hight has a big effect on weight...for every inch you can add on about 5-10 lbs for what is healthy weight. Go on line and look for some charts for healthy weight to height ratios. Most importantly pay close attention to her eatin habbits and don't let things get out of control.

Make time to go together for a walk every day. Join in her push to lose weight and help out. Go see a doctor together and make sure the target weight is realistic and healthy. And help to ensure a balanced healthy diet. Start small (ie short walks and reducing snack foods) and then keep the momentum going (eliminating snack foods and a more active exercise program)

Start small. Take walks with her or maybe do something fun like cross-country skiing! Sign her up for sports. Do anything active.
Involve her in making foods. Make fun snacks (e.g. ants on a log) that are also healthy and tasteful.
If losing weight is fun, she'll love doing it and it will be done in a healthy way.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

Her weight and height are right in line with what they should be. If she lost weight and weighed 60 pounds, she would look horrible! There is so much pressure on girls and their weight and it's very unfair. If she were 200 pounds, she would have cause to worry. Don't make any comments about her weight, and if she continues to be obsessed, take her in for a complete physical and have the doctor talk to her.

your child is at a perfect weight because she is 5'3'' maybe she only wants to lose weight to be closer to her friend, peer pressure, or maybe trying to impress a certain crush of hers. get her to exercise more. when i was 11, i would walk home which probably take..30 minutes. dont push it to the extremes cause she is still growing and it may trigger a eating disorder.
this is a site to calculate her bmi. first weight her and measure her.

if she doesn't believe youthat she's ok, you can show her this site above.

Well you can help by cutting her off from sweets and pop , that alone will make you gain wait , also try V8 , It has two full servings of vegetables. A nice walk around a local zoo or park reserve can really do some good to help her stay active. :)
