If "90%" of people said bad words in church , it would still be inappropriate. Writing for publication, and that is what this is, requires the use of standarfd English. There is no need for abbreviations like those used in text messaging and it decreases clarity as well.
There should not be the issue of being in such a rush or being gigged for airtime that a person can't type out a short message in a literate manner. It's also pretty silly to claim or imply that 90% of people write like an idiot most of the time.

90% of people do NOT use this text language. It may be that 90% of your friends do. That doesn't say anything against them or you.
Using 'slang' (whether it's text language or a regional dialect) can make you hard to understand to those not "in the know". People often make judgments, not on what people are saying, but HOW they say it. Not always fair, but it happens.
I hope that some of the other answers to your original question helped.

You are quite wrong in saying that 90% of us now use text language in ordinary writing!
Text was developed to save money. Fair enough.
Its use instead of English for normal communication is slovenly, unnecessary and exclusivist.
Old b*ggers like me can't understand it - and have no desire to do so.
Italian may be the most beautiful language in the world, but English is the most expressive and poetic. Text language degrades it.

Great news that you can use proper words but as you've posted this under pain management, I presume that doing so is a terrible pain for you. Perhaps you have RSI (repetative strain injury) from too much texting in which case, use the method of communication that we were all born with - TALK!!
Don't know where your figure of 90% came from - sounds like a load of rubbish to me. Good luck with the pain management.

To be honest although text language can be a bit trying to read I really dont know why people insist one does not resort to it on YA. The thing with all this typing is it does your head in especially as we are not really trained typists and two fingers(yes) are hard.

Ya text is fine online. Between friends it's better though because they already know your personality. Some ignant people will judge you though if they thought you used it inapropriately, or didn't like your 'tone'. Other people are just gramar freaks and nobody should mind them, or even acknowledge them because they upset everyone. Between complete strangers though try to be formal (I try to serve by example)

Are you in pain ?? if not why post your text problem in this forum and not another? I know I am not answering your question, that is because I do not understand why it is in Pain and Pain Management forum? Any hints to what hurts ?

Thank you, some of us do not speak text. As far as I am concerned the use of text spelling is just laziness.
